Descanso for Hector E Gastelum

From what appears to be a horrific accident in 2000, this memorial is a good distance from the highway. I can't assume how far this is from the original accident.
Well tended, keeping his memory alive, there is a candle burning in the mock cab of the truck descanso. I imagine the passion for keeping this memory bright, in the building and maintenance of this site.
Traveling this main road down the peninsula, trucks dominate the road. Maybe drivers are under a lot of pressure to deliver on time, but there were to many dangerous close calls for me with large trucks. I have seen a number of accidents with trucks off the road. This road is really a narrow two lane highway and the only option for commerce.
